DaFruits of Abraham’s servant – the servant’s heart.♥️

Genesis 24♥️

Hello all and happy Sunday!🤗😊

I’ve read Genesis chapter 24 so many times, but when I read it again last month it’s been on my heart particularly to share and focus on Abraham’s servant.

Before we get into Abraham’s servant, let’s start with Abraham, where the blessing begins

”Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.“

Genesis 24:1

It came to a point where not only was Abraham blessed, but he was blessed in all things in his advanced age.

I pray that we receive the same blessing, that we shall be so blessed in the fullness of our age.

So going back to the scripture in verse 2 to 4 it says;

”So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh,“

Genesis 24:2

”and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;“

Genesis 24:3

”but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”“

Genesis 24:4

So it was when Abraham was in advanced in age and full of blessings that he was wise in understanding the importance of leaving a legacy.

Abraham was blessed and the Lord promised Abraham, He established a covenant with him that so would his children be blessed, and his children’s children, and his children’s children.

Refer to Genesis 12.

There is no point of establishing success and not having anyone to continue the legacy of that success.

There had to be the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for a reason.

We know that there is power in 3 the blessed trinity.

There had to be the twelve tribes of Israel, we know there is power in 12, the 12 disciples.

Having the right foundation is everything.

We see in Matthew 1:1 that the divine genealogy of Jesus Christ starts from Abraham, starts, from the blessing and Jesus is both the blessing and the promise that delivers, that saves.

Of course we know that Jesus was, is, and is to come. Jesus was there before Abraham, after Abraham and still is.

Jesus is everlasting life.

”The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:“

Matthew 1:1

Now, let’s go back to Abraham’s servant. According to Genesis 14:14, Abraham had many servants, 314 servants to be exact.

”Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.“

Genesis 14:14

So when Abraham sends a particular servant in Genesis chapter 24 verse 2-4 it amazes me and causes me to ask the question, why did Abraham choose this particular servant.

1. We see that Abraham chose the oldest servant to serve him. Meaning that this servant walked long enough with Abraham, to understand the relationship that he had with God and blessing upon his life.

2. Abraham’s servant was a man of his word, he was a man of integrity. He made a promise and stuck by it.

3. Abraham’s servant was in unified faith with Abraham. He prayed for success and to show kindness/favour to Abraham. In Genesis 24:12 it says ”Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.“

4. Abraham’s servant gave way for God’s perfect will. He didn’t allow doubt to interfere and stand in the way of receiving God’s blessings. Abraham’s servant went in faith and from what we read in verse 14, he is essentially saying as I go ahead, may your presence go ahead of me, make everything beautiful, according to Your perfect will, not mine but Yours.

”Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.”“

Genesis 24:14

In verse 15, we see that God’s Word comes to pass.

”And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder.“

Genesis 24:15

Now let’s talk about Rebekah’s character for a minute.

1. Rebekah was a a woman of virtue.

2. Rebekah wasn’t rude to the servant, neither was she impatient.

3. She was welcoming.

4. She was hospitable.

5. She was giving.

6. She was nurturing.

With Rebekah’s characteristics , we see the interpretation of love in 1 Corinthians 13, demonstrated through Rebekah.

From verse 18 to 20 she offers him a drink

She’s caring to him and his animals

She referred to Abraham’s servant as ‘my lord’ she understood respect and honour.

Then in verse 21, we see the importance of remain silent, and waiting on the Lord to reveal His truth and His promises.

”And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.“

Genesis 24:21

Going back to verse 17, we see that the servant time in faith, he doesn’t allow opportunities to pass by him.

He goes in faith and he runs to the opportunity,

”And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.”“

Genesis 24:17

We see levels of faith play out in Abraham’s servant.

In verse 5, he has his doubts wondering if Rebekah will follow him.

In verse 7 Abraham encourages his servant, he assures him that the angel of the Lord will go before him.

With faith sometimes or at times, we will need encouragement, we will need reminders, just for that extra push to move pout into it.

Abraham knew prophetically the wife had to be chosen through a specific lineage from a specific place.

In the kingdom of God the right foundation is everything.

It’s also interesting that Abraham sent this specific servant.

We see that he has a heart for God.

He’s a man of faith.

He understood worship

He understood prayer

He was a blessed man.

”And he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”“

Genesis 24:27

”And he said, “Come in, O blessed of the Lord! Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and a place for the camels.”“

Genesis 24:31

”So he said, “I am Abraham’s servant. The Lord has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great; and He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.“

Genesis 24:34-35

Abraham’s servant understood the heart of worship because Abraham understood worship.

”And it came to pass, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he worshiped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth.“

Genesis 24:52

”But her brother and her mother said, “Let the young woman stay with us a few days, at least ten; after that she may go.”“

Genesis 24:55

”And he said to them, “Do not hinder me, since the Lord has prospered my way; send me away so that I may go to my master.”“

Genesis 24:56

Do not allow the enemy to hinder the blessings and the promises of God.

Be a man of honour

Stick to the assignment.

When the Lord prospers your way, there’s no way that you shall be hindered.

Let’s have a little look at Jacob and Laban for example.

Genesis 29 and Genesis 31.

Laban was the father of Leah and Rachel.

Jacob loved Rachel, but was deceived and given Leah, Rachel’s older sister.

It was through this deception that Laban lured Jacob to have to serve him for twenty years according to Genesis 29.

It’s interesting that Laban’s name is Laban as it reminds me of the word labour and references the amount of labour that Jacob had to do to get what he desired.

However, there’s something that I wasn’t used to go back to and that’s what I mentioned earlier, about the hindrance of the blessing.

Laban stood as a hindrance to Jacob’s blessing.

However, it was not until God said it was time for Jacob to leave and strife settled in from Laban’s family, that indeed Jacob was able to leave and walk in the full promises of God. Laban not being able to let go is what caused his daughter Rachel to being able to let go of idols.

Laban held on to idols and so did his daughter Rachel, and that was Rachel’s downfall, that’s what caused Rachel to die.

You cannot serve God and idols, you have to let go.

Let’s liken the strife and blessing analogy to Abraham and Lot.

Genesis 13

There was strife that Lot allowed to fester when dwelling with Abraham.

It’s that’s strife that caused Lot to choose Sodom and Gomorrah and it was when Lot left that God blessed Abraham.

Strife blinds us from seeing the true promises of God.

Holiness, faith and righteousness draws us closer to God and reveals His promises.

Going back to chapter 24 verse 56, we see why it was so important for Abraham’s servant to not allow himself to vibe one distracted and to not allow anyone to hinder him from returning to his assignment.

The assignment wasn’t completed, until he returned the legacy, until Rebekah was to be with Isaac and from Rebekah and Isaac, who do we get? Jacob.

”So they said, “We will call the young woman and ask her personally.” Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will go.”“

Genesis 24:57-58

Rebekah was not only a companion to Isaac but also a comforter to Isaac after his mother Sarah’s death.

”Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.“

Genesis 24:67

I pray you were blessed by this message and wish you a blessed and fulfilled week.

Remember, to:

1. Walk with God.

2. Walk in faith.

3. Trust God and obey.

4. Listen and heed to His perfect will.

5. Know that His promises will surely come to pass.

6. Do not allow yourself to be distracted.

7. Fulfil purpose and watch God step in to clear out all the hindrances.

8. Nothing can come between you and God’s purpose for your life unless you allow it to.

9. Nothing is bigger than God.

10. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you,

God bless. 🤗♥️🙏
