His dwelling place. ❤
Go and tell My servant David, Thus says the Lord: Shall you build Me a house in which to dwell? 2 Samuel 7:5
The misconception of many is that The Lord only dwells within the walls of a church building.
David desired that The Lord inhabited the best place, because where king David dwelled was made out of cedar whereas God dwelled in an ark of curtains.
The king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. 2 Samuel 7:2
Now there is nothing wrong with desiring to create the best place for The Lord to inhabit after all God deserves our best. However God responded “shall you build Me a house in which to dwell?”
God was teaching David something.
God whom is omnipresent, this means that His presence is everywhere. He does not only dwell, live or inhabit within a temple, a house, a tent, an ark, a church, He dwells within us.
For I have not dwelt in a house since I brought the Israelites out of Egypt to this day, but have moved about with a tent for My dwelling. 2 Samuel 7:6
Before God sent forth His son Jesus Christ, He dwelt amongst His people not within them but amongst them, and so He required an ark to be built for His dwelling place amongst His people.
Now He is teaching king David that a time will come where He will not only dwell amongst His children but also within them.
In all the places where I have moved with all the Israelites, did I speak a word to any from the tribes of Israel whom I commanded to be shepherd of My people Israel, asking, Why do you not build Me a house of cedar? 2 Samuel 7:7
And I will appoint a place for My people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and be moved no more. And wicked men shall afflict them no more, as formerly 2 Samuel 7:10
And as from the time that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord declares to you that He will make for you a house: 2 Samuel 7:11
And when your days are fulfilled and you sleep with your fathers, I will set up after you your offspring who shall be born to you, and I will establish his kingdom. 2 Samuel 7:12
He shall build a house for My Name [and My Presence], and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 2 Samuel 7:13
I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. When he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men. 2 Samuel 7:14
But My mercy and loving-kindness shall not depart from him, as I took [them] from Saul, whom I took away from before you. 2 Samuel 7:15
And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever. 2 Samuel 7:16
God revealed to David that a time will come where He will send forth His son, and sacrifice His son for our sins, so that we are redeemed through His blood, so that the veil of the ark is torn,
When the camp is to set out, Aaron and his sons shall go in and take down the veil of the screen and cover the ark of the testimony with it.
Numbers 4:5
and His presence inhabits us the children of God the body of Christ, so that when we enter into His presence there is freedom there is liberty.
When Jesus died He departed from the earth, but He rose again. Jesus is alive and He has given us His Spirit the Holy Spirit.
Because His Spirit the Holy Spirit lives within us, through us His children, He has established His kingdom.
He reigns, He lives, His Word is eternal. His Holy Spirit is what unites us His children, the body of Christ.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
Acts 2:1
The Holy Spirit is our helper, our teacher, our friend.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:26
We are His temple, we are able to communion with Him daily no matter where we are.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
He dwells within the church, the church is us, and not the building. This is why Jesus said to Peter that
you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
Matthew 16:18
Peter a child of God like you and I is where The Lord built His church, therefore He has established His kingdom through us, His presence dwells within and amongst us.
Thank You Jesus for You are the living Word.
Thank You Lord for You have established Your kingdom through Your children.
Thank You Lord for You dwell within our very being.❤
